Our flight from Almaty went better than expected! Caleb did fine on the take-off. I kept praying over and over that God would protect his little ears as he drank his bottle, and he did just fine. He was asleep within 25 minutes of take off and slept for about 2 hours, woke up for a diaper change and bottle, and then slept until the last hour of the flight. I think that flight was only 7 hours, and the one from Frankfurt to Houston is longer.
We are exhausted and so ready to be home. We're both feeling run-down but know this is the last few miles of the marathon. We just keep trying to pray when it feels too hard or we feel too tired.
Couple of funny things - Bryan kept thinking he was smelling a Caleb dirty diaper from the bassinet, but SURPRISE! It was the bad breath of the dude sleeping next to him. So gross!
Also, Bryan changed the first wet diaper in the bassinet and told me he was going to go 'flush it'. Well, he ended up just throwing it in the trash can and didn't tell me that was the diaper disposal method of choice. When Caleb's impressive first in-air dirty diaper occurred, I carried him to the airplane potty and changed his diaper while he tested out his lung strength. When I was done wiping poo from him legs & back, I tried to flush the diaper. Of course the toilet rejected it and I had to figure out how to fish a poopy diaper out of the toilet and into the trash can. I think I washed my hands and used hand sanitizer a million times. Ahhh, it's nice to be a first time Mom during a 24 hour trek around the world with an infant!
We can't wait to see everyone. Please pray that Caleb's flight to his new home goes well! We will see you all soon!
Caleb chilling in the Frankfurt McDonald's. Geez I look tired

Caleb is stoked about this flight

Oh wow, you got a chance to post one more blog before coming home! You're awesome! That's so funny about the poopy diaper and the bad breath of the person next to Bryan! LOL! Caleb was so good sleeping thru the flight. Yay!
Hang in there! You are almost home! Caleb already looks like a
"seasoned world traveler!"
Caleb gets a shiney gold star for Fiight 1 of his journey home with Mommy and Daddy! and now for Flight 2... Caleb, I know you can do it! By the way, Betsy and Bryan, today you truly are "Bringing Home Baby Caleb"! I'm thanking God for that!
I'm sorry, but you made me laugh! Diaper fishing in an airplane toilet...and he's not even a toddler yet! Wait till he starts flushin' toys, you'll be all set for fishing for them :) I'm glad he did so well on the first flight, he's been such a little trooper. Hurry home! I'll be anxiously awaiting the airport pictures...since I can't be there in person *pout*
If your flight was on time then you landed an hour ago and ARE HOME (at least in Houston)!!! OMGOSH!!!
Loved the diaper (and breath) stories. Just the beginning...
I know you all are so tire! I was counting down the hours since I was up this morning.. . . knowing you will be here - which you have been for a while now. I just cannot wait to hear how you are doing! Love you all so much! j
Hooray! You've made it home! Isn't it funny how the "hardest" part is finally over... the adventure is truly just beginning. Here's hoping you guys are fast asleep soon. Can't wait to hear how the final leg and the homecoming went! Welcome Home, Caleb!
The poopy diaper in the toilet is the FUNNIEST story I have heard in a long time. Thank you for being brave enough to share. I'm certainly hoping I will look as well as you do on my plane ride. I think I might wear my glasses too as sleeping in contacts stinks. I'm so glad Caleb did well. As my mom would say, "I'm going to be wearing God out" on our flights home. Home you are home now!!
