It's Starting to Hit Me...

that we are leaving in 4 days for Kyrgyzstan! It does not feel real yet. I keep wondering at what point it will finally sink in, especially given the fact that I still have a 5-page packing list to tackle and a To-Do list that isn't shrinking fast enough.
Our living room looks like Babies R Us exploded in it after all the wonderful baby showers I had over the past 10 days (more on those in a later post!). I have been busying myself with doing loads of laundry for the three of us. Bryan and I have yet to start packing anything for the trip. We've been out of town for Bryan's away rotation for the past month and I've only made a few fly-by drop offs of baby shower loot in recent days. Today while I worked at home and did laundry, Bryan assembled the baby swing, exersaucer and high chair. I'm proud to report none of the assembly involved the use of medical equipment such as surgical needles, unlike previous handyman assemblies at our house! :)
I might be delusional, but somehow I think we can get everything done:
  1. finish the laundry
  2. clean the house
  3. pack 2 weeks worth of necessities for Bryan, me and Caleb
  4. buy snacks to take on the trip
  5. gather pictures & proof from our first trip
  6. fill out our Kyrgyz visa applications
  7. pay the bills
  8. hold the mail
  9. get the nursery finished
  10. install the car seat
  11. mow the front yard so our house doesn't look abandoned by the time we get back

If you are reading this and think I'm delusional that it can all happen please don't say so... ignorance is bliss :)

In reality, we could leave tomorrow morning if we really needed to. We could throw some clothes in a suitcase, and we have the other essentials - our 'clean money' for in country expenses, plane tickets, tax returns, pay stubs, visas, passports, and of course the I-171H that gives us permission to bring him home. Most importantly, we feel emotionally ready to bring him home. I realize that although I want to cross everything off the To-Do list the reality is that what we have ready for him right this minute surpasses the life he has in the orphanage. The love we have for him is immense and the excitement and honor at being his parents is overwhelming.
I've already spent too much time sitting at the computer. I must get back to work! Thanks to everyone who continues to read and check in on us... In less than a week 2 will become 3 and a forever family will be made!!

I have NO doubt in my mind that you will accomplish everything on that list, cook and freeze dinners, knit a sweater, balance your checkbook, organize your pantry and learn Russian before you leave. I like that bliss place you speak of!! :-) SO EXCITED for you guys!! Now, get back to work and stop reading your blog comments. *smile*

I can't wait to see the three of you together forever!!! Keep packing and working, and just as you said, the most important thing is that Caleb has two loving parents bringing him home...no matter what home looks like when you walk in with him!!!

You will get everything done just in time. Not much longer and you'll be holding your adorable Caleb in your arms.
