Caleb's Birthday Party

On Saturday we had Caleb's birthday party at our house. I planned a monkey-themed birthday party and have now self-diagnosed myself with some type of parenting/party-planning OCD . My key symptom is that I thought it was a good idea to do all kinds of homemade monkey-ness for a one year old's party... all while still having a full time job, traveling to Houston and getting ready for Easter too. Caleb is so special to me and I wanted his party to be special too!
The best part of Caleb's birthday celebration was having so many family members and friends with us to celebrate. Caleb's grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all drove from out of town to celebrate with him. We had friends from in town take time out of a holiday weekend to join us and some other dear friends drive all the way from Dallas with their 7 month old to be a part of Caleb's first birthday party. We are so blessed to have so many people love our blue-eyed birthday boy (posing with a soccer ball, as usual)...

Here are the highlights from Caleb's party. I wish I had more photos of him with all of the people who came to celebrate with him, but my brain could only do so many things at once that day!!

Monkey cupcakes & monkey party favor cups

Caleb was so focused and somewhat bewildered when the group started singing to him!

Caleb decided he was not a fan of cupcakes. Bryan gave him a big bite not long after this and he promptly puked on his high chair in front of everyone. Poor baby :(

Time to open presents! Caleb really enjoyed all his gifts, but of course any type of ball is always a big hit.

We got Caleb a Cozy Coupe that we can push with a handle until he's big enough to drive on his own. He LOVES it.

My sweet friend Jamie, her husband Nick and daughter Lainey came to Caleb's party! It was their first time to meet Caleb.

We tried to get a photo of the two of them together, especially since they might get married someday if we have anything to do with it....

The combo of Lainey learning how to sit + Caleb learning how to be gentle was not so good...

Bad turned to worse...

And then things got really bad. Poor Lainey is having a meltdown while Caleb tries to look completely innocent!

It was so much fun to celebrate Caleb's birthday with everyone!! Caleb handled all the attention wonderfully and really seemed to have fun at his party. Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us!
