A Little Bit of Girl Time!

At the end of May I celebrated my 28th birthday. So far 28 doesn't feel much different than 27! :) My Mom and I took a girl's trip to Canton, TX to what is called "First Monday Trade Days". It's a 100-acre outdoor shopping venue with home decor, crafts, clothing... you name it, someone there will be selling it. Our trip was a way to celebrate my Mom's birthday (earlier in May), Mother's Day and my birthday combined.
Both of my parents came into town and my Dad stayed with Bryan to take care of Caleb. After a birthday breakfast and celebration with my Mom's homemade chocolate cake, Mom and I hit the road for our little trip!

We drove about 3 hours to Mineola, TX where we stayed in an adorable Bed & Breakfast called Fall Farms. Ironically, our room (called "Sissie's Hideaway") was decorated with a pillow that said "If's It's Not One Thing, It's Your Mother". We got a good laugh out of that!
On the night of my birthday, Mom and I went to a nice Italian restaurant on a nearby lake. We decided to forgo the wine since we were driving on a dark curvy road and we had no clue where we were going!!
The next day we enjoyed a delicious breakfast of caramel french toast, fruit compote, sausage, sliced fruit and coffee. It was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had! We then drove to Canton and were rewarded with a front row parking spot which I know my Aunt Dana would be envious of! :) We shopped for nearly 6 hours before calling it quits. I got some great decorations for our new house, a few things for Caleb and some hairbows for our prissy little dog Sophie.
In terms of shopping, it was a very successful trip! More importantly, it was a great time away with just my Mom. We had a blast shopping and spending time together, and it also became quite apparent that I might be her clone since we often say/think the exact same things!
Here are some pictures from our trip:

We had a lovely view of this lake while we ate dinner on my birthday!

Shopping, here we come! We had gorgeous weather that day!
Our front row parking spot - Dana, are you jealous???

You scored big time with that parking spot!!! I am so glad you got to have a getaway with your mom. It sounds like you had a wonderful time.

Betsy, this was one of the best gifts ever! I loved the bed and breakfast and successful shopping...we went in with one cart and came out with two! But most of all, since life has been so busy, I loved having the opportunity to spend time with you. I do wish we had a pic of us trying to get the two overloaded carts across the busy road! Thanks again for a wonderful mother-daughter getaway! I love you! Mom
