I am so incredibly behind on posting about Caleb's baptism, but wanted to make sure I didn't leave it off of his little blog! My laptop stopped reading our camera card shortly after the baptism and I finally found a way to download my pictures... hence the baptism post over a month late!
Caleb was finally baptized at our church in Temple, St. Luke's, on August 23 at the 8:15am Mass. The Saturday before the baptism both sets of grandparents as well as Caleb's aunts, uncles & cousins came to Temple. Bryan was able to leave the hospital at a reasonable time and we enjoyed a family meal of fajitas & margaritas!
The following day was Caleb's baptism... bright and early! Caleb normally doesn't wake up until 8am, so getting him dressed, fed and out the door to church by 8am was quite an undertaking! Luckily we had the help of Caleb's godparents who stayed with us. We are blessed to have Bryan's younger brother Craig and his wife Michelle as Caleb's godparents. They take their role as godparents very seriously and we know they will have a lifelong impact on Caleb's spiritual growth - in addition to being an awesome aunt & uncle too!
Caleb rode to church in a white onesie & gym shorts so he wouldn't have any surprise puke or drool or boogers on his lovely white baptism outfit! We got him dressed at church in his special baptism outfit, which was difficult to find since he's a little older than most babies are when they get baptized. Caleb also wore a small silver cross from James Avery, which was our baptism gift to him. We hope that it will become a special keepsake for him to wear on his First Communion & Confirmation as well.
We were introduced with Caleb and his godparents at the beginning of Mass. Shortly after that Bryan and Caleb went to sit in the back of the church since he has not yet learned how to use his "inside voice". The actual baptism took place after Mass, and of course Caleb turned on the charm big time by blowing spit bubbles at the priest right before the baptism. There was a lot of reading and discussion by the priest before the baptism even took place, and Caleb was so squirmy!! Bryan did a great job of holding onto him while we waited for the big moment.
Caleb did great with the actual baptism and didn't seem to mind the water being poured on his head, although he did reach up to feel what was going on! Afterwards we took group pictures and then headed home for a brunch that was prepared with tons of help from Michelle! We had a delicious spread of ham, breakfast casseroles, spinach salad, a yummy cake and rolls. We gave Caleb a piece of cake and he had a great time eating it!! It was really fun to watch, him have fun with the cake especially since his last experience with cake on his first birthday involved him vomiting on the high chair tray while being videotaped. It was such a blessing to have our entire family there with us to celebrate such a special occasion in Caleb's life. We are so thankful that they all made the trip to Temple to be with us and to show their love for Caleb.
We pray that Caleb will grow into a man of faith and character. We pray that the commitment we made as his parents to raise him in the church will be fruitful and that Caleb will know the Lord in a very personal and intimate way!

It was a great party. The table looked so pretty, the food was excellent, and Caleb was a hoot!
Congratulations on Caleb's baptism! What a special day and wonderful pictures. You are so lucky you could do it during mass. We wanted to have Malika's baptism during mass as well, but our church only does baptisms one Sunday each month and with family travel limitations we couldn't manage it. It was still wonderful but we missed the fellowship of our parish. Caleb looks cute as ever! Hugs from Denver.
That seems like it was a really happy and special day for your family and Caleb!!
