Rock A Bye Baby

We have a new addition to the nursery, and sadly it is not yet baby Caleb.

The glider & ottoman that we picked out finally came in. I ordered it from a store in Houston since, SURPRISE! we don't have a huge selection of baby extravaganza stores here in Temple.
As luck would have it, the day I decided to brave Houston rush hour traffic to drive to Sugar Land to pick it up there was a dogs & cats kind of rain storm. By the time the chair and ottoman were loaded into the back of my car I could not see anything out of my back window other than soft pistachio colored fabric. Having no rear visibility is less than ideal when navigating rush hour traffic on major highways. I proceeded to drive like an old lady or a really timid high school driver and managed to make it safely back to my parents house (aka Hotel Mom & Dad) until I could cart the chair & ottoman back to T-town the next day.

Bryan put the swivel/glider base on the bottom without the aid of medical equipment. This is a huge accomplishment since everything else we have assembled for our child has utilized something purchased from a medical supply store or something borrowed from a hospital supply closet.

The obvious next step after assembly is to enjoy our fine purchase. We both gave the glider a spin and Bryan gave it the 'thumbs up' since it has a tall enough back for him to avoid the feeling that he is sitting in child-sized furniture. We long to rock sweet baby Caleb to sleep in that chair. Until he is home we will just have to settle for rocking the Caleb-pillow. He's about that size so we figure it's pretty good practice.

I also tried to rock our dog (who weighs in at a Caleb-like 9.5 lbs) but she wanted nothing to do with it. This is surprising coming from a dog who normally wants to be treated like a small child. I'll go ahead and call it like it is - the first stages of canine jealousy!!!

I sit in the rocker in Ellie's room and the cats LOVE to come and sit in my lap. I'll admit -- I baby talk them!! They are also about the same size as Ellie so it's a great match. They LOVE it though. So, when she's home, there might be a problem!! Love the chair, but DANG girl, Brian's legs are long!!

What a great chair! Poor Asa, he'll be #4, so no special furniture will be purchased in his honor around here. I am sure Caleb will love being rocked and cuddled in that chair.

I love the color of the chair. Little Man is getting the hand me down rocker that we used for Lindze but it still works just fine. Hopefully soon you will be rocking sweet Caleb.

ooooh, I love it! You will get use out of that chair for years! It looks a lot like the one we have. Alex and I would read books in it, and now I do the same with Scarlett (thankfully Alex has a full size bed so we still have lots of room).

Very comfy looking. I predict lots of lullabies and book reading!

Hey Betsy, I keep forgetting to check this blog, so I am not sure when you posted, but wanted to tell you your chair looks really nice and I am glad Bryan fits! Also I am laughing because we have tried to put Cali in several baby things . . . the swing you gave me, the sling. . . and she has been less than thrilled! Haha! Love you!!!! J
