Several weekends ago Bryan and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary, and I'm just now getting around to updating the blog about all that has been happening in our household.
We wanted to do something special to celebrate and to have a little mini-vacation before residency occupies all of Bryan's time. We decided to go to the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort near Bastrop, TX -- just a little over an hour drive from our house in Temple. My parents came to Temple to keep Caleb for us during our three night getaway.
We had such a great time! It was definitely a family-oriented resort but we enjoyed lounging by the adult pool, floating in the lazy river with margaritas and Bryan enjoyed a round of golf on Saturday and I went to the spa on Sunday. We both did a lot of reading and way too much eating too. Most importantly it was nice to have time together and to just relax before our lives get very busy and consumed with other things.
Getting ready for a round of golf. I managed to stay quiet and be a good golf observer for 4 whole hours!

Caleb did great while we were away; I think it really helps him to stay in his house with his familiar bed & toys and routine. We are so glad that he did ok while we were gone... although we did call to check in on him several times each day because we missed him so much! When we got home he gave us a huge smile, then paused for a second and started to cry! I think he actually processed and realized that we had been gone and now we were finally home! We were glad to see the relief he felt at having Mommy & Daddy back.
Bryan, thank you for 6 wonderful years!
