It was one year ago today that Bryan and I set out for Kyrgyzstan to go get our precious boy. We left feeling excited and anxious all at the same time, toting along 3 bags and an empty infant car seat. Bryan and I were reminiscing about that day last night - remembering our excitement as we waited to board our flight, our massive luggage which included a suitcase for Caleb that weighed 42 lbs and our long flights to get to our son's beautiful birth country. We feel so blessed to be able to reflect on the past year and know that our son was with us, rather than still waiting for us in his orphanage. Many families are not as fortunate as us and are still waiting for the opportunity to bring home their children from Kyrgyzstan. We do not take for granted the fact that Caleb is home with us and continue to pray for the families who are hoping to bring their kids home soon.
I have been so emotional lately thinking of what took place a year ago. I feel more nostalgic about Caleb's Gotcha Day (coming up this Friday, October 9) than I ever did about his first birthday. This week represents the time when he truly became ours although he was in our hearts for much longer. We are so blessed and give God all the glory for giving us such a precious gift - our son Caleb Daniel!
I'm excited to look back on what took place a year ago and to remember how much progress Caleb has made in his health and what a strong bond we have formed as a family. We are looking forward to a week together as a family, and a fun Gotcha Day celebration with Caleb on Friday!
