On Tuesday I got an email from our adoption agency saying that we are now officially approved! I was expecting the formal review/approval process to take two weeks, but instead they had it done in one week. The next day Caleb and I drove to Waco (he did not want to go and said, "Bye Waco!" the entire way there). We dropped off our next phase of fees and the birthmother scrapbook that I created on blurb. I am really pleased with how the book turned out and hope that it will be a special keepsake for our next child's birthmother. We didn't stay at the agency for long because Caleb was running around like a nut! Afterwards we ran a few errands in Waco and had a Mommy/Son lunch date at Jason's Deli. The ice cream cone was definitely Caleb's favorite part! He has been asking for ice cream ever since.
Our agency has been really good about not making any leading statements about how long they think we'll wait, when we'll match, etc. I really think it is wise on their part to encourage us but not mislead us about things which are out of their control. I have to admit there is a part of me that wishes they'd give us their best guess, though! It's hard to not know if they think we'll get matched in a week or in a year! I'm trying to be patient and trust God's timing, and in the meantime use any nervous energy to get things done around the house. So far I've cleaned baby items out of Caleb's closet and worked on cleaning out the items stored under the guest room bed and in the guest room closet. I've also done extensive internet browsing to figure out what crib and bedding I'd like to get this next time around. I guess adoptive mommies 'nest' too! ;)

Wahoo! We are so excited about another grandbaby joining the family. I hope it's soon.
will your agency let you know when an expectant mother views your file/info?
Betsy I am so thrilled for you, I know the waiting must be hard but I think it is awesome you can use the energy to accomplish things, that'll feel good when you do find out that you have accomplished so much. Hugs and love to you!!! Jamie
This is great news, and I totally understand how important it is to manage expectations. You are so right though, it will all be in the Lord's time.
